New Okura cocktails reflect Japan’s Kōyō Autumn colours Bangkok, Thailand (20 August 2015) Mixologists at The Okura Prestige Bangkok have created a series of cocktails that reflect the changing colours across Japan’s Autumn landscape start from September 2015. The process of this colour change is known as Koyo in Japan. Marc Bittner, our Head Sommelier, explains “We begin the Kōyō process with ‘Green’, made from Kitaoka pear sake, green tea-infused gin, fresh pear and vanilla flavouring, while the ‘Red’ cocktail combines Mezcal with candied apple, caramel and Kōyō leaves. The ‘Yellow’ cocktail is a mix of Suntory kakubin, salted maple syrup and fresh apricot juice. Finally, as the leaves turn brown before falling from the trees, we present our final Kōyō cocktail ‘Brown’ that’s a subtle blend of bourbon whiskey, fresh apple and anise syrup with roasted cinnamon apples.”The two non-alcoholic mocktails added to the new Kōyō drinks menu at Up & Above Bar are pumpkin smoothie (made from pumpkin, Earl Grey syrup, cream and grated nutmeg; and strawberry/rhubarb soda with koyo leaves.
All drinks on the Kōyō menu at Up & Above Bar are available daily from 11:00 am – 1:00 am during 1 September – 30 November 2015 and all priced at Baht 475++.
Up & Above Bar is located on 24th floor of The Okura Prestige Bangkok. Price is subject to 10% service charge and 7% government tax.
