Yamazato, the Michelin Plate signature Japanese restaurant at The Okura Prestige Bangkok, is offering special Gozen lunch platters and a Kaiseki dinner to celebrate Tango no Sekku or Boys’ Festival in Japan. The first Gozen lunch platter comprises an appetizer of smoked salmon with shrimp, a scallop dumpling soup with mushrooms, and a selection of sashimi. The second platter includes tempura and grilled and simmered dishes with highlight ingredients such as sea bream with miso soup and mochi wrapped in oak leaf.
The Kaiseki dinner offers a multi-course feast that includes a starter of pomelo with torched conger eel and crabmeat in a balsamic sauce, a soup of bamboo shoot dumplings with a touch of yuzu, and a selection of sashimi. Standout dishes include grilled mackerel and beef with papaya dressing, simmered sea bream with bamboo shoots, taro, butterbur, and a sesame cream sauce, a selection of tempura with young sweet fish as the star of the show, and a noodle dish of vermicelli with herring served with gourd shavings and sushi roll.
The Boy’s Festival Gozen lunch is available from 11:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., Kaiseki dinner from 6 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., from 30 April – 20 May 2018. Gozen lunch is priced at Baht 1,300 ++ and Kaiseki dinner at Baht 4,500++.
